Sandoval Lake is considered as one of the most beautiful destinations in the Amazon rainforest. The main access is from Puerto Maldonado and our strategic location allows us to offer it in just one day. This lake offers a pleasant view of the all the incredible Amazonian flora and fauna.
 Full day tour to Sandoval Lake
You will receive a brief explanation of the tour and important tips before departure.
Transport to the Sandoval Lake. Trip by outboard boat for around 35 minutes, until the access trail to the Lake. During the river trip you will have the opportunity to observe the style of live of local people living at the bank of the river.
Hike 3 Km to the banks of the lake. We will observe the great diversity of species of flora in this zone and maybe a troop of monkeys or other animals which live in the Reserve. There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzin (unique prehistoric looking birds), cormorants monkeys, etc. If we are lucky we could see the family of giant river otters which live there.
Lunch in the canoe or in a typical local lodge. After lunch we will have the opportunity to have a relax time or swim in the lake.
Late in the afternoon, a lot of noisy parrots and macaws arrive to palm trees around the lake to theirs nets to pass the night.
It is time to begin our return to the Madre de Dios River to return to Puerto Maldonado. Prepare yourself for an spectacular sunset , then we will search for caimans.
