The Coast and Peruvian Sea
Peru possesses more than 2000 km from coast, characterized for being a thin desert band, which represents 1 % of the territory, located between the Andean flanks and the Ocean Pacific Ocean. This crusade for numerous valleys formed by rivers that descend from the Andean snow-capped mountains.

La Costa y Mar Peruano

.

La Costa y Mar PeruanoThe Peruvian sea is exceptionally rich, due to the presence of the cold current of Humboldt and the hot one of the Niáo, species(kinds) of great commercial value are captured by fishing fleets of different countries, The species that they live(inhabit) in big cardúmenes are the anchoveta, sardine, mackerel, horse mackerel, and hake. Peru is the first producer of Flour of fish. The marine mammals are protected by the legislation and his(her, your) fishing is prohibited all the year round.

It is calculated that two third parts of the whales of the World cross in the Peruvian sea in his annual migrations. The Peruvian whale is an endemic very slightly studied and observed species

In the fishermen's wharves it is possible to observe a wide variety of products of the sea for human consumption, and to take delight with the popular food.

The band costeáa presents variations of North on South. In the northern part the coastal plain is broader coming even the 200 kms from extent covered with forests of carob-trees and forests of dry tropic. Lived(inhabited) by a varied quantity of animal(rude) species(kinds) like howler monkeys, toucans, ocelots, caymans and species(kinds) of endemic birds.

La Costa y Mar PeruanoThe swamps of the department of Fall down they are a habitat only ones in Peru there shelter thousands of marine birds and also they live(inhabit) other species bentónicas of great commercial value as the black shells and crabs.

Towards the south the coastal band becomes closer to only a few Kms.y often the Andean spurs they come up to the sea forming steep high places. In a transverse cut the coastal band suffers dramatic changes from the desert coastal beaches towards the heights provoked by the Andean clump. In few Kms it is possible to ascend from the level of the sea up to bordering on the 5000 mts crossing different ecological floors.

The fauna of the coastal hills is changed but it has never been very rich in number of individuals due to the existence of little food since the pastures are sprayed only by coastal mist, not for rain. Also it has suffered a great decrease due to the fact that the coast is the zone most filled with Peru. Between the most notable animals the deer are, vizcachas, the Andean puma, the fox, small lizards, and serpents. The most common representative in the air is the turkey-buzzard, nevertheless in some places it is possible to observe condors that go down the heights to eating puppies of marine, dead wolves, or placenta of the same ones; also it exists several greedy species

Mammals:

33 species of marine mammals recognized in Peru are divided in 9 families, of which the Otaridos and delphinidos are the most numerous. Species on the verge of extinction exist as the otter of sea that they can be seen often in the beaches of the cathedral and mendieta inside Paracas's National Reservation.

The big whales and cachalots that cross the opened ocean can be observed to approximately 50 miles of the port of the callao.

The mammals most observed in the Peruvian coast are the marine wolves. Two different species share the coasts that baáa the cold Peruvian current: the big funny wolves of up to 300 kg of weight, which the sandy beaches prefer to congregate, and the thin wolves (Arctocephalus australis), of more slender body, which meet in the roquerios and inaccessible projections of the littoral. Both species reproduce between November and March, ideal months for his observation.

The most advisable points to find them are located on the south coast: Paracas's National Reservation, in Ica's department, possesses important loberias in the islands Cross-bow, Top Arquillo and Burnt Knob, where probably there centers the major number of marine wolves of the whole country.

Something more in the southern part Top is San Juan, Reserved Zone established to protect the places of anidamiento from the birds guaneras, pinguinos from Humboldt and to a great colony of marine wolves. Here it is possible to observe between December and April groups of Killer whales hunting wolves.

The cetacean ones, for your part, are represented well in the Peruvian waters. Several species of dolphins or you spit, as the nose of bottle and the common one, besides porpoises or marine dirty persons, they are habitual residents of slightly deep waters of the littoral.

Fish

Tunas, them steal, soles, basses, chitas, mere and up to the biggest black magician of the world, a copy of 702 kg (1.560 pounds) with which the North American Alfred Glossell Jr obtained the world record in fishing magician, they are some of many preys that offer the Peruvian waters to the lovers of the fishing. The great writer Ernest Hemingway was an assiduous visitor of the Peruvian sea, which big fish inspired it when his famous novel wrote The old man and the sea.

As him, the fishermen know that Peru is synonymous of adventure and, especially, of good fishing. Not by nothing the fishing in Peru is been considered one of the activities of major importance, by the variety and wealth of the Peruvian sea. Here the fisherman will find always an ideal beach for the type of fishing that it wants to practise: roquerios and steep, wide beaches of sand, cold and rich waters in plankton and hot transparent currents. Good fishing!
