Wasai has three clay licks of mammals where many species, as tapirs, peccaries , deers such as it´s predator meet every day to eat the soils rich in minerals,
Also we use two clay licks of birds one of parrots just walking from the lodge and a second of macaws at Tambopata river were is possible to observe many species of parrots and big macaws.

Notes:
These are species recorded by Resident Naturalists at Wasai Lodge & Expeditions from April - Nov 2000. * indicates species reported by other staff working for Wasai Lodge & Expeditions. Evidence of presence is idicated by footprints, sound or dead animals/skin. (This list is not indicative of the species that would be seen on a typical Wasai tour).
Locations:
- WML = Wasai Maldonado Lodge in Puerto Maldonado
- WTL = Wasai Tambopata Lodge (this includes all the forest around the lodge as far as Baltimore Community, River Gato and the Mammal Collpa). WTL1 is a sighting on the trail from km37 to Baltimore Community.
- CC = Chuncho Collpa (this includes the two collpas and the forest surrounding them)
- RT = River Tambopata (this includes the river and it´s banks and animals seen from the river)
- RM = River Madre de Dios (this includes the river and it´s banks and animals seen from the river)
- RG = River Gato (this includes the river and it´s banks and animals seen from the river)
- SL = Sandoval Lake (this includes the forest from the River Madre de Dios to the lake and the forest around the lake, as well as the lake itself)
- CL = Condenado Lake (this includes the forest from the River Madre de Dios to the lake and the forest around the lake, as well as the lake itself)
- CA= Cachuela (this includes all the land on the "island" north of Puerto Maldonado, but most records relate to the area close to the road up to km 13.
